Do Not Compete With Relatives For MLM Advertising
Too many times people get all excited about an amazing multilevel marketing opportunity and instantly turn to their warm market in order to grow their downlines. While sharing potential wealth with family and close friends may be a noble gesture on your part, stop and think about them becoming your competition for new recruits.
While everyone has their own circle of friends they can influence, as an upline team leader you will be called upon a lot to help your team recruit new members. What happens when one of your brother’s friends signs up under your downline? Do you think your brother is going to be happy that you managed to recruit one of their friends when they could not bring them into the business? If you do, then think again.
One of the main challenges in multilevel marketing is finding new potential recruits. While the warm market may be quick to help you earn the downline size in order to start making a decent return on your efforts, keeping your downline happy with sales and allowing them to recruit new members can mean the difference between success and a holiday meal filled with animosity.
Advertising your business needs to expand beyond the realm of your dinner table and with internet marketing, you can reach potential new recruits from many different parts of the globe. Regardless of what many multilevel plans claim, there is no such thing as opening a website and earning money within minutes. Customers have to find the website and the only way to let them know is to advertise your products or the business model.
Now, comes the tricky part. You and several of your friends and family members are involved with the same multilevel marketing company and you each have your own web page designed to gather sales as well as recruit new members. When you place an advertisement, to which web page will the visitors be directed?
You have probably figured by now that the last few digits or letters on the web address indicate the person who “owns” that particular site. That is how companies can track which of their independent distributors is bringing in the sales and recruits and pay them accordingly. If you are paying for the advertising, chances are you are going to use your unique address in the link, which only seems fair.
However, here comes your brother again, a member of your downline who you promised to help build his business when you signed him up, wanting to understand how you are selling products and recruiting new members, and they cannot get hits on their page.
When you talk with your team members you can offer advice on where, when and how to advertise and hope they follow your example. However, advertising a multilevel marketing plan becomes trickier when family is involved. Try working with them in developing their own advertising presence and enjoy the fruits of their advertising labor as you collect commission on their sales as well as on your own.
