Hunting Down the Home Business Lead
When starting a home business, the most important thing you’ll need to have, are leads to customers who will buy from you and make your business a success. Unfortunately, these home business leads don’t grow on trees, so where do you find them? Luckily, in this online world, potential customers are giving away their information left and right and, with a little searching (and perhaps a little money) those leads can be your leads. Soon, your business will be up and running and you’re satisfied customers will be telling others about your business, creating the best home business lead of all, and the word of mouth customer.
The first place you’ll want to go in search of your home business leads is the array of message boards and posting forums dedicated to starting and maintaining a home business. It can be tempting to read some of these forum posts, roll your eyes, and go back to doing something else. Often times, forum posters can be the most annoying people on the entire planet (second only to YouTube commenters). Still, stick around a while and try to learn something between all of the clichés and platitudes long time forum posters seem obligated to make. Join a message board or two of your own and begin making posts that are logical and helpful. At the very least, you’ll add some much needed intelligence to an online community in which there is precious little. At best, you’ll be networking and letting people know who you are and what type of business you’re in. People can’t use your service or buy from your website if they don’t know you exist.
The second way to get good leads is to simply buy them. People are selling lists right now with the email addresses of customers who might like to purchase your goods or use your website. Be sensible when buying these leads, and make sure you’re not just buying a random set of email addresses. They should be customers who have expressed an interest in receiving offers of the sort you’ve got to hand out. Otherwise, you’re just on your way to becoming a spam king, and no one likes those.
Finally, ask around. Find other people in a business similar to yours. Where are they spending their advertising dollar? Where are there customers coming from? What are they doing that you’re not doing? If you can, befriend these webmasters and try to find out at least one or two of their secrets. You probably won’t have much luck if they are selling a product or service in direct competition with yours, but as long as there is no direct conflict, they may be willing to help you out. It can’t hurt to ask, in any case.
Starting a home business can be tough going for a while. With these tips, however, you can start to build a portfolio of home business leads that you can sell to and make into lifelong customers as long as you have a product worth buying.
